This kit is a MUST if you installed a 2 in. or taller suspension lift in your 1987-2006 Jeep Wrangler (not needed for body lifted Jeeps). The kit fits all newer production NP 231 transfer cases (1987- up). A Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit (SYE) will eliminate the need to drop your transfer case in order to avoid drivetrain vibrations that are caused by taller suspension lift. The purpose of this kit is to replace the slip yoke portion of the NP 231 with a fixed yoke and CV-style drive shaft assembly. This is the most complete and strongest kit available. The Mega Short SYE (18676.72) is designed to be used in the same lift applications as the other standard SYE kit (2 in. and up). The main advantage to the new Mega Short SYE kit is that it allows for a much longer drive shaft to be used (additional 3 in.). This reduces the angle of the dive shaft and in turn improved bearing and u-joint life, reduces driveline vibrations caused by lifted Jeeps running short drive shafts. Following the design for 3.6 and 3.8 liter gasoline powered JK Wranglers; this XHD Low/High Mount Snorkel System was designed for use with 2.8L diesel engines. The XHD Modular Snorkel is the first snorkel engineered with the versatility of interchangeable intake heights. By relocating the vulnerable stock air intake through an internal duct system just below the windshield, the XHD Modular Snorkel helps to eliminate dust-clogged air filters and the risk of hydro-locking your engine. Jeep owners can easily swap the standard low-mount intake for a 21- in., high-mount 'ram' intake on the Rugged Ridge XHD snorkel system for whatever off-road conditions they may face, including tackling harsh dusty trails or deep water crossings. Each snorkel is also engineered to function with a host of other Rugged Ridge products, including its Windshield Mount Light Bar, Windshield Auxiliary Light Mounting Brackets, Sherpa Roof Rack, and the new Exo-Top System. It is also the first snorkel designed with the modular functionality of a Pre-filter Low Mount and Ram High Mount air intake design. Unlike other snorkels, you don't have to give up flexibility for functionality. Not only did we engineer our snorkel to allow the windshield to fold and doors to be removed, we built it for use with our dual battery tray, windshield light bar and windshield light mounting tabs. Because what good is having a snorkel to cross the river, if you have to leave your lights and the dual battery (to power your winch) on the other side? Note: Windshield light mounting tabs only compatible with low mount. The Modular XHD Snorkel System comes standard with the Pre-filter Low Mount. The Pre-filter Low Mount relocates the air intake to just below the windshield and draws cool air from outside the hot engine compartment. The optional Ram High Mount design allows the air intake to be extended up an additional 21 inch to the top of the windshield. The two air intake mounts are easily interchangeable to give you the modular functionality best suited to your needs. The system is manufactured from premium thermoformed plastic, mandrel bent aluminum and hi-temp silicone connection hoses. Built in manual drain valves channel away excess water to prevent it from entering the intake system. It installs with minor modification to the fender, but without the major cutting and surgery that other kits require. The new lower air cleaner box installs in place of the factory unit, so you don't have to hack and tap. Just attached the factory upper air box, chose from the Pre-filter Low Mount or High Mount design and go!
