Command the torque converter to stay locked, stay unlocked, or revert to OEM settings with the BD TorqLoc. Flip the toggle switch to position one, and the lock-up clutch is engaged, so transmission temperature remains low and the exhaust brake can work with 100-percent effectiveness (this is a manual setting and should only be selected under light load/light power conditions, such as highway driving). Position two reverts back to stock function, or can be wired to unlock the torque converter. Position three acts as an AutoLoc by commanding lock-up only when the exhaust brake is engaged - perfect setting for every day driving in all situations. Additionally, the TorqLoc has an Overdrive inverter option which allows the transmission to start out in Drive which will prevent upshift into the Overdrive gear - great for those who live in city/urban areas. Currently, exhaust brake usage can cause high temperatures in the automatic transmission due to torque converter slippage. Only 10% to 80% of the retarding force is transferred through the fluid coupling of most torque converters. The BD AutoLoc commands the lock-up clutch of the torque converter to stay engaged when the BD Exhaust Brake is activated. This allows up to 100% of the retarding force to be transferred while in 3rd and 4th gear. The Ford 6R140 transmission varies line pressure between 70 and 170 psi. This works well for stock trucks but for heavy duty use and higher horsepower applications this may be insufficient. BD's PressureLoc for the 6R140 is a solenoid replacement that overrides the transmission line pressure to maximize output enabling the transmission to handle higher horsepower. Installation takes 2-to-3 hours to complete without having to do a full transmission relearn since no internal tolerances have changed. A "fresh" stock transmission will have the ability to handle up to 450hp. The Dodge 48RE transmission's low mainline pressure at lighter throttle pedal position can cause shudder and slippage. When engaged with the push button switch mounted on the dash, the Pressure Controller increases mainline pressure by mimicking higher throttle positions, preventing mid-range convertor shutter and clutch/band slippage. This pressure increase is at its greatest during light throttle positions and ramps towards stock pressures as the pedal gets closer to full throttle when the extra pressure is no longer needed. The Pressure Controller is designed to almost eliminate all shuttle shifting with light throttle and as an added feature, this unit slightly holds or delays shifting to prevent lugging and improve transmission function - reduces shift flare and gear hunting. Easily plugs inline with factory sealed connectors making for a clean installation and has three different levels.
