Currently, exhaust brake usage can cause high temperatures in the automatic transmission due to torque converter slippage. Only 10% to 80% of the retarding force is transferred through the fluid coupling of most torque converters. The BD AutoLoc commands the lock-up clutch of the torque converter to stay engaged when the BD Exhaust Brake is activated. This allows up to 100% of the retarding force to be transferred while in 3rd and 4th gear. Most conventional steering systems are positioned with a positive caster to better aide in a self-centering of the wheels while driving. Turbochargers operate at high temperatures. The Cool Down Timer is designed to keep the engine running when the ignition is turned off to prevent turbocharger bearing failure that could occur when the engine is shut down, stopping the cool lubricating oil flowing to the turbocharger while it is still hot. If the oil flow is shut off too early, the remaining oil in the bearing housing will overheat causing coking of the bearings which causes both premature bearing wear and reduced oiling of the bearings. Allowing the engine to idle to a minimum operating speed gives the turbocharger time to cool down. The Dodge 48RE transmission's low mainline pressure at lighter throttle pedal position can cause shudder and slippage. When engaged with the push button switch mounted on the dash, the Pressure Controller increases mainline pressure by mimicking higher throttle positions, preventing mid-range convertor shutter and clutch/band slippage. This pressure increase is at its greatest during light throttle positions and ramps towards stock pressures as the pedal gets closer to full throttle when the extra pressure is no longer needed. The Pressure Controller is designed to almost eliminate all shuttle shifting with light throttle and as an added feature, this unit slightly holds or delays shifting to prevent lugging and improve transmission function - reduces shift flare and gear hunting. Easily plugs inline with factory sealed connectors making for a clean installation and has three different levels. The 2011-2016 Ford 3.5L has an inherent design flaw where not all of the OE stud locations are utilized by the OE manufacturer which leads to warped exhaust manifolds, broken exhaust studs and blown manifold gaskets. The cylinder head on Fords 3.5L Gas Ecoboost has threaded holes for 11 exhaust studs to be used, however the OE manifold only utilizes 8 of those stud locations. BD has designed a manifold that not only utilizes all 11 stud locations, but also improves exhaust flow and has improved durability, the way it should have come from the factory.
