Vincent was already a successful businessman when he invented the famous part called “the mechanical hand that starts your car”. This allowed him to make his mark in history as he was dubbed as the “King of Go”. However, a fatal vehicular accident that involved his father on a Chicago intersection made him detest the unreliable brake systems at that time.
This drove him to turn that personal tragedy into great innovative success in the automotive industry. Today, whenever we talk about brake and braking systems, we think of Bendix as they have been the leading manufacturer and supplier of these systems for most of the 20th century.
